The Uniquenesses of Indonesia

Last Month, it's exactly on 07.02.2012 was being my 3'rd years in Germany where I've already gotten so much lessons in life how to survive here. And absolutely I'm proud to be a different person who come from indonesia. :)
Since I live here there were many people who I met beforehand asking about where / What is Indonesia ? and how beautiful is it ?.
They just knowed Bali very well but not Indonesia but actually the case is Bali is also the part of indonesia.
And all these questions are always being the difficult questions to me to give them the completed answer about., whereas I also don't know much more about the Culture-Wealthness of another provinces of Indonesia. and Anotherside I have fear to give them the unbonafited answers.
Hence I try to search some articles about my country in Internet which can help me perhaps to know a little bit about my country, and can help me explaining those people who will attack me with many questions someday . yeahh it would be not complete but it would be better if I know my country a little bit well than I don't know everythings about. ;)

Because of that I just wanna write some uniquenesses of Indonesia here.
Not much and not so completely but it would be enough to tell people who will be asking me.

So, Indonesia,
officially the Republic of Indonesia ,
it is a country in Southeast Asia and Oceania.
Indonesia has more than 17,500 islands.
It has 33 provinces with over 238 million people,
and is the world's fourth most populous country.
Indonesia is a republic, with an elected legislature and president.
The nation's capital city is Jakarta.
The country shares land borders with Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and Malaysia. Other neighboring countries include Singapore, Philippines, Australia, and the Indian territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The official language was declared under the name Bahasa Indonesia on the proclamation of independence in 1945.

While religious freedom is stipulated in the Indonesian constitution, the government officially recognizes only six religions:
Islam, Protestantism, Roman Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism.

Most Indonesian Hindus are Balinese, and most Buddhists in modern-day Indonesia are ethnic Chinese.
Hinduism and Buddhism remain defining influences in Indonesian culture.
Islam was first adopted by Indonesians in northern Sumatra in the 13th century, through the influence of traders, Roman Catholicism was brought to Indonesia by early Portuguese colonialists and missionaries, and the Protestant denominations are largely a result of Dutch Calvinist and Lutheran missionary efforts during the country's colonial period.

Indonesia has about 300 ethnic groups, each with cultural identities developed over centuries, and influenced by Indian, Arabic, Chinese, and European sources.

Indonesian cuisine varies by region and is based on Chinese, European, Middle Eastern, and Indian precedents. Rice is the main staple food and is served with side dishes of meat and vegetables. Spices (notably chili), coconut milk, fish and chicken are fundamental ingredients.

Among the most well known islands are Sumatra, Java, Bali, Kalimantan (formerly Borneo), Sulawesi (formerly Celebes), the Maluku Islands (or better known as Moluccas, the original Spice Islands) and Papua. Then, there is Bali “the world’s best island resort” with its enchanting culture, beaches, dynamic dances and music. But Indonesia still has many unexplored islands.

There is Fact: there are 583 languages and dialects spoken by the different ethnic groups in Indonesia.

Because of that I was forced to learn and learn again the languages of the place where I lived. For example : when I was in Banjarmasin I should have been learning "Banjar language" to able to easily adapt with its surrounding people.and If I moved to Java Island, I also had to learn "Java language" which it is absolutely very different with "Banjar Language".

Being a tropical country, Indonesia is blessed with two seasons, namely dry and rainy. Dry usually occurs from June to September and the rest is rainy season. Sunshine is abundant except in rainy season when the sky tends to be cloudy. It is advisable to visit Indonesia during dry season.

And, true to the Pancasila, the five principles of nationhood, namely
  1. Belief in the One and Only God,
  2. a Just and Civilized Humanity,
  3. the Unity of Indonesia,
  4. Democracy through unanimous deliberations,
  5. and Social Justice for all.

Across its many islands, Indonesia consists of distinct ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups. Indonesia's national motto, "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" ("Unity in Diversity" literally, "many, yet one"), articulates the diversity that shapes the country.

and Here, I want to share a Video about Indonesia from youtube . Have a look guys !!
