Now, on 4 April that means I will have been entering the 4th Semester in my Bachelor programm and officially my bachelor's programm will be ended in 7th Semester. But it might be late a years cause I should take my time not only just for studying but also I worked and I also will spending my time to do my internship later.
Studying abroad actually is not easier than you think, and an age can not be the measuring instrument to judge a student looks like a fool student not that he/she was a lazy student but it is as they should maybe do something more advantageous or important for what they wanted and prioritized beforehand
.
Now I wanna share my experiences and my point of view as asian student who we have to follow the regulations of Germany government for non EU-Student which it is more complicated and it will take our brain to think smart in short time.
For examples of some classically Obstacles of studying in Germany :
on my student visa was declared that
"Gilt nur zur Durchführung eines Studiums im Fach Betriebswirtschaft (Bachelor) an der Hochschule Bremen. Beschäftigung bis zu 90 Tagen oder 180 halben Tagen im Jahr sowie Ausübung studentischer Nebentätigkeit erlaubt."
this paragraph means de facto prescriptive that
we just get the work permitting to 90 days or an 180 half days in a year which a workday usually is about 8-10 work hours and an half workday is usually 3-5 hours a day, but it depends on our chefs. (e.g : I was making my owned note of my workdays in a month about 20 workdays but my chef said to me that I just worked about 12 workdays in that month, so it would be my profit because I still have more workdays in a year more than I thought beforehand.).
I actually make a note to antizipate from over 90 workdays. And if we worked over the 90 days, it will be threating our study in Germany,we will get penalty from foreigners' registration office because what we have done in Germany, all of datebase have been recorded by the foreigners' registration office and the unexpectived rumors that I read on internet media that we can be exmatriculated from our campus because of doing illegitimacy .:(
but anotherside and absolutely the more difficult was as I was in studienkolleg, I was just permitted working in Semester break. It had been hinderning to save more money for visa extention which we are as non EU-student had to have minimal about 7800 Euro on our bank account in order that we get 2 year visa extention.
therefore we are usually searching the alternative way like lending our friend's money in short time or calling our parents to send us a couple of money as soon as possible on our bank account.
We are as non EU-Student can not be permitted to get BäfogState student support – BAföG
The German state supports students depending on parental income according to the Federal Education and Training Assistance Act (Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz - BAföG). Half of the financial support is a subsidy, the other half must be paid back after the end of one’s studies.
Nevertheless Under certain circumstances foreign students,we can receive BAföG, for example if:
- we ourself are a recognised asylum seeker or refugee
- Mother, father or spouse have German citizenship
- You worked in Germany for at least five years before the beginning of the studies, an apprenticeship does not count.
- Mother or father have worked in Germany for at least three years within the last six years.
- We are an EU-citizen and have worked in Germany for six months prior to commencing your studies.
- This occupation must have had a connection to the university subject studied
Another case that can make our study late in Germany is we should be spending our time in Studienkolleg during 2 Semester to able to go to the Universities in Germany. and there we usually learn German, and subjects which we had gotten while we were in senior high school.
we just repeat what we had learned from our high school. the different is surely all of material and the teachers from Germany and we learn in German to prepare to come to the German's Universities.
According to the point of view of Richard Porson : "Life is too short to learn German"
and I am on it. .:D
If you have already been attending the German's Universities, you will know the most difficult regulation of the German standard education is officially you just are given 3 opportunities to the attending every exams of your subjects. if you have already been in 3rd chance or in the last chance, you have to pass its exams whatever the reasons, but if you're failed, you will be exmatriculated from your Universities, and you may not be permitted to take again that subjects within EU-Countries. .
But mostly I usually heard the indonesian student reasons why their study are not just in time, and most answers of them said that they want to searching more experiences in working life and go around the European Union Countries because if we study in Germany we can freely visit many beautiful EU-Countries. :)
